Every writer has goals they want to accomplish, big or small. And sometimes, those goals are about how many words one can write in one sitting or piece of content.

What are Word Count Goals in Writing?

It’s creating a goal for how many words you want to write at any given time. Or with whatever you’re writing.

Goals can range from a few hundred to several thousand words. And the genre has little to no impact unless it’s something like microfiction or flash fiction.

What are the Main Types?

Here are the main types of word count goals:

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly

These are often associated with challenges like NaNoWriMo and other significant writing events but can also be personal goals.

Other Word Count Goals

Other goals are:

  • Per article
  • Per page
