What Is Romance?
I Don’t Think I Know
What is romance?
To a certain point, I suppose it’s relative. Every relationship is different. So, the romantic side would be different.
But how do you explain romance to someone who’s never experienced true romance? Or how do you explain it to someone when you haven’t experienced it?
Growing Up
I never saw either my parents or foster parents be romantic with each other in any form other than a kiss or a pat on the butt.
My mom liked saying my stepdad making her coffee in the morning was romantic, but I don’t know if that’s true.
So, the main form of romance I saw was from movies and TV, which often isn’t accurate. And I mostly watched action and animated movies.
My First Relationship
I suppose there was some sprinkles of romance with my first boyfriend. Christmas Eve of 2020 comes to mind, with us driving around town to see Christmas lights.
But much of our relationship was us being in his room watching shows/movies, along with other things.
And I was the one who bought a card and candy for him for Valentine’s Day, only for him to break up with me a week later.
