Poetry.

A form of writing not confined by the same rules as others are.

It’s not a style of writing I know a whole lot about, but it is something I write occasionally and have even learned to enjoy.

But that wasn’t always the case.

I Never Use to Like Writing Poetry

I always thought poems were for either old people or pretentious hipsters, so I stayed as far away from poetry as possible for the longest time.

It doesn’t help that movies and TV shows represent poets in that fashion.

When Did That Change?

I’m not exactly sure when it changed, but I know the shift started happening after I joined Vocal Media in December 2020.

It was a slow shift, but I found myself realizing some creative pieces worked better as poems than stories.

Why it Has Changed

Despite loving writing fiction and sharing my life and knowledge with you guys, I’ve never felt the catharsis with those as I have with poetry.
