And Our Society’s Obsession With Them

Labels.

They have been around for quite a while now. And no, I don’t mean the ones you print from a label maker or the fancy ones you buy from the crafting store.

I’m talking about the ones society has created, or more specifically, American society.

It’s getting stuffed to the gills with labels, and everybody is drowning in them.

Since when did what you do or don’t do for work equate to your worth as a human being?

I don’t know about other countries, but it’s a constant in America. I even catch myself falling into this bad habit from time to time. Something I’m not proud of.

But I’ve had people say in one form or another that editing isn’t a real job. And it hurts.

No, it’s not a regular 9–5 job, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a real job.

I’m just lucky I have a partner who’s actively helping me grow my editing business.
