What Does That Mean?
Family.
What does that mean? What does it feel like to be part of one? When do you know you’re a part of one?
It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, and the sad truth is I have no idea.
What Does Family Feel Like?
Family is supposed to be a supportive, tight-knit unit that has your back no matter what. And I’ve seen how close families can be, both in real life and on TV.
But I’ve never felt truly part of one.
My Relatives
Yeah, I’ve never felt like I belonged with them. I’m always just there taking up space, usually as an extension of my mom or stepdad.
They’ve never really supported me. And I mean both my bio and stepfamily.
Girl Scouts
For a while, this did feel like a close approximation of family. So many shared memories and crazy adventures.
But as time passed, people changed or left, and it wasn’t the same. And I outgrew that part of my life.
