If you’ve been reading my more personal posts, you might know that I've landed a new full-time job as an in-store promoter for a remodeling company.

And it’s made me think about my career as a freelance book editor.

This Last Year Has Been Difficult

Compared to other years, 2024 and 2025 haven’t been very kind to me in this part of my life. So basically, since I moved from Washington to Texas.

I’d made several mistakes with clients that set me back. And I tried my best to fix it.

Even after my website revamp, the creation of the Facebook and Instagram pages for Gem In The Rough Editing, and posting my services in Facebook groups, it hasn’t been successful.

One of my favorite YouTubers and my favorite AuthorTuber, Katesbookdate, posted a video about her time also being a freelance book editor and why she decided to quit.
