Ever since their invention, people have flocked to coffee shops to order everything from plain black coffee to a complicated Starbucks-inspired Frappuccino that makes the others in line irritated at the person ordering it to tasty baked goods and sandwiches.

But most people don’t live at these shops for eight hours a day every day.

Except for writers.

In Our Writing

As most writers do, we incorporate things we like into our works, adding a level of realism to our stories.

Fiction

In most books I’ve read, the characters meet up for coffee at least once, usually at the beginning, especially if they’re located on the East or West Coast.

And YA novels are crazy about them.

Non-Fiction

While I haven’t read much non-fiction, I’m sure there are plenty of coffee shop meetups in newer autobiographies.
